Format: Group Focused (youth)
Objective:
This program will also help youth identifying feelings, how feelings make our bodies react, what in our lives make us "mad", and how we can deal and cope with our emotions in a positive way. Youth will learn empathy and begin to develop a positive sense of self. All of which is necessary to help them make and keep friends:
Decreasing the need to bully or allow others to bully.
Our Final goal is to help build a positive sense of self worth and discover new things that they can do and achieve.
Method:
Each different emotion or behaviour is identified through the use of short movie clips. This allows the emotion or behaviour to be attached to the character in the clip and not to the youth directly. The learning environment is designed to be laid back giving the feel of just “Chilling & Chatting”. This is a non-threatening way to open dialogue and ask questions. The individuals will leave the sessions learning the day's
objective in a fun and innovative way. The program will help to develop and encourage trust relationship techniques.
Examples of Emotions or Behaviours Identified:
Anger – I Can't Take It Anymore! Movie: The Waterboy
Getting Started – Taking Baby Steps Movie:What About Bob
